Cheap, Uninsulated, Poorly Heated House

Candace and the boys 16 Jan 2007 16-58-52Boy I wish we owned our house and that the hose we owned was not the one we currently live in. The house is two stories, is barely insulated and only has a single zone of HVAC coverage. You'd think a house that is less than 10 years old would have been built better than this. It got so cold today that everyone has to bundle up inside the house. Our poor little boys were wearing their winter jackets INSIDE!

If I'd of known we were going to spend 5+ years in San Antonio instead of only 1 (like we originally thought) or 2 (like we were later lead to beleive), than I would have defineatly bought a home. Heck, the house we're renting is so cheap we probably could have nearly paid for it in full with out rent alone!

Look at my poor family all bundled-up inside the house:

One "hail" of a storm :)

Last night we had some nasty storms in the San Antonio area. There were some very high winds (up to 100mph according to the news) and a lot of hail. I was fortunate enough to frive home in the middle of this all. Fortuneately, the part of town I was in when the hail passed over me only received small-sized hail, that I had to endure for about 5 minutes. When I got home, I found that the house got hit by much larger hail that was still around several hours later in 70+ degree weather. Fortuneately, we did not get any real damage. Some flowers Candace planted got banged-up pretty bad, but hopefully they'll bounce back.

The Rare San Antonio Ice Storm

San Antonio Ice Storm 17 Jan 2007 13-19-07San Antonio Ice Storm 17 Jan 2007 13-21-47We received one heck of an ice storm in San Antonio today. Look at the icicles hanging from everything and the nice coating of ice on the ground. It's very rare for this to happen in San Antonio, and with the way the houses are built around her (not made to stand the cold) you could feel it inside as well as out!
